SAN PEDRO, CA – The South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) has approved $2.9 million for the acquisition and deployment of 20 Westport liquefied natural gas (LNG) heavy-duty trucks at the Port of Los Angeles and Port of Long Beach. Total Transportation Services Inc. of Los Angeles will replace 20 of its pre-1990 trucks with new Kenworth T800 trucks powered by the Westport LNG engine.

The funding support for TTSI’s LNG vehicle acquisition represents $144,000 per truck. These are the first of 5,311 LNG trucks expected to be deployed in the San Pedro Bay ports in the next couple of years. The LNG refueling infrastructure that has been established by the ICTC will be critical to supporting these significant and important LNG truck deployments moving goods across the western United States.
