TORRANCE, CA – Electric, hybrid, and fuel cell power management systems manufacturer Enova Systems announced a partnership with a major Asia-based OEM to integrate and test its proprietary Post Transmission Parallel Hybrid system, according to the Web site www.industryweek.com. The system is targeted for integration and/or retrofit into North American delivered 2008-model-year vehicles.

The agreement marks the first North American Hybrid Drive System to be used by an Asia-based medium truck OEM, and builds on Enova’s prior relationships with First Auto Works (FAW), Tomoe, and Hyundai.

Enova’s Post Transmission System is one in which the Electric Drive System is integrated behind the transmission and is designed to be installed as a “drop in,” fully integrated turnkey fashion into an OEM production line, or retrofitted in post-vehicle production in a modular, as-needed basis. Enova believes it will be able to develop a more convenient and suited system through collaboration with the OEM.

Enova applies ‘enabling technologies’ in the areas of alternative energy propulsion systems for light and heavy-duty vehicles as well as power conditioning and management systems for distributed generation systems. The company develops, designs, and produces non-invasive drive systems and related components for electric, hybrid-electric, and fuel cell-powered vehicles in both the new and retrofit vehicle sales market.
