MIAMI, FL – Ryder System, Inc. has reported earnings per diluted share (EPS) were $0.84 for the three-month period ended Mar. 31, 2007, up nine percent from EPS of $0.77 in the year-earlier period. Net earnings were $51.3 million, up eight percent from $47.6 million in the year-earlier period. Revenue for the first quarter of 2007 was $1.59 billion, up seven percent from $1.50 billion in the comparable period last year.

Operating revenue (revenue excluding fuel and subcontracted transportation) was $1.12 billion, up six percent compared with $1.06 billion in the year-earlier period. Fleet Management Solutions (FMS) business segment revenue increased one percent, primarily due to contractual revenue growth of six percent largely offset by lower commercial rental and fuel services revenue. Supply Chain Solutions (SCS) business segment revenue grew 21 percent, driven by new and expanded business in all industry groups. Dedicated Contract Carriage (DCC) business segment revenue was flat compared with the same period in the prior year driven by lower volumes of managed subcontracted transportation, offset by new and expanded business.
