Orders for Classes 5 to 7 vehicles increased 32% in January compared to the same month a year ago, amid an overall increase in truck orders that rebounded from a slower 2016, according to preliminary data from ACT Research.

Orders for Classes 5 to 8 improved 27%  compared to January of 2016, according to Kenny Vieth, ACT's president and senior analyst. North American Classes 5-7 orders reached an 11-month high in January, rising 32% to 23,000 units.

"To put that number into context, January’s seasonally adjusted medium-duty net order total was the best monthly reading in nine years, or since February 2008," said Vieth.

ACT’s data concerning Classes 5 to 8 for January show that orders rose to a 13-month high of 45,300 units. Final order numbers and data for January will be published later this month.
