You just might see pink construction equipment if we're doing work in your area during the month of October. In Eastern and Northeastern Ohio, Columbia Gas of Ohio crews painted their backhoe buckets pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It's just one of many ways employees participate in the fight against breast cancer.

“We’ve all been touched in one way or another by this horrible disease,” said Joe Coffey, a field operations leader in eastern Ohio. “This our way to start a discussion in the communities we serve to remind people to have regular exams and check-ups.”

More than 20 backhoe buckets were painted for the cause and dozens of service technicians will help spread awareness of breast cancer throughout the month.

“It helps us make a connection with customers,” said Joe. “They will share stories with us and by the time our job is done at their home or business they understand how much Columbia cares.”
