Mitsubishi will introduce a bolder approach to vehicle styling as part of its redesign of the Outlander mid-size SUV for 2016, the automaker announced at the New York International Auto Show.

The Outlander will also get a series of engineering and design improvements, including increased body and suspension structural rigidity, redesigned suspension and electric power steering, noise-isolating windshield and rear door glass, more sound insulation throughout the vehicle, new dynamic front suspension and rear differential dampers, improved weather stripping and engine compartment trim.

The new generation continuously variable transmission improves acceleration, performance, shift feel and torque delivery, according to the company.
