Altec Industries is recalling 122 2014-2017 Altec AC40-152S cranes because the electronic Load Moment Area Protection (LMAP) system may display incorrect load chart values, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Using an incorrect chart value could lead to unit instability or loss of load control, increasing the risk of death or serious injury,” NHTSA warned on the agency’s website.

To resolve the issue, Altec dealers will update the LMAP software. There will be no charge for this service.

The recall is expected to begin Feb. 15. Vehicle owners can reach Altec at (205) 991-7733. Altec’s number for this recall is CSN 673.
