N.C.-based Duke Energy announced that 200 public electric vehicle (EV) charging stations will be installed as part of a $1 million EV Charging Infrastructure Project. The utility has received 500 requests for charging stations across the state, and is planning new locations for almost 50 counties around the state.
The utility has chosen 83 cities, counties, and organizations for this program. Funding will cover purchase and installation, up to $5000 for each charging port, and recipients can place the charging stations wherever they see fit.
