One utility's smart grid upgrade will lower the demand for fleet in the future. Chattanooga Electric Power Board (Tenn.) has spent the past year and a half modernizing its grid to improve efficiency with automation.
With these upgrades, the electric utility will be able to restore power more quickly and restrict the scope of outages without needing to send out workers to search for the source of power outages, reports the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy.
