Electricity and natural gas provider Central Hudson Gas & Electric has achieved annualized savings of approximately $500,000 per year since implementing fleet management software provided by Chevin Fleet Solutions.

Central Hudson, which provides electricity and gas for Hudson Valley New York, has also experienced an 8% increase in mechanic productivity (repair hours as a percentage of total hours worked) since starting to use Chevin’s FleetWave software in 2014.

According to the utility, using the software has enabled it to implement processes and controls that have improved both its productivity and workflow.

Central Hudson originally decided to use Chevin’s FleetWave to help work more quickly, gain real-time visibility over operating costs and maximize equipment utilization. Today, FleetWave has helped the company achieve all these objectives and more, becoming its enterprise fleet management information system, used to manage its fleet of 1,000 pieces of equipment across its operational regions and offices.

FleetWave has also been integrated with Central Hudson’s financial platform as well as multiple fuel management systems.

“We are using FleetWave for many purposes to include fleet information, maintenance records, and safety,” explained Michael Dooley, operations supervisor, Transportation Department for Central Hudson. “For example, we can assess repairs on different types of vehicles to make decisions on which type of equipment we should be buying. We can easily investigate maintenance details and assess maintenance costs. We can even analyze fleet utilization in order to deploy vehicles where they are needed most and redeploy underutilized equipment.
