Altec President Jon Styslinger participated on a panel with representatives from Pacific Gas & Electric, Edison International, Portland General Electric, Ford, and General Motors regarding plug-in electric vehicles and work trucks. The panel at the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) Convention discussed the current and future state of plug-in vehicles for utility worktrucks and passenger vehicles. Methods for the industry to expand the adoption of plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) were examined.

“What began a few years ago as a cooperative effort between Altec and our utility partners in California to address regulatory requirements, has now become the preferred mode of operation,” Styslinger said. “Altec has been fortunate to work with electric utilities who are not only big thinkers, but also big doers. We have worked closely with utility customers to reduce their fuel consumption and emissions with the Altec Jobsite Energy Management System (JEMS®). The quiet operation of the JEMS® creates a safer and more satisfying work environment for operators and nearby customers.”

EEI, organized in 1933, represents U.S. investor-owned electric companies with more than 300 members from international electric companies, suppliers and related organizations. The organization provides public policy leadership, conferences and forums.
