The City of Chilton Public Works Department in Wisconsin is investing more than $34,000 in new equipment for its Water Department.

At the March 18 City Council meeting, members approved bids for a $25,673 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD 4WD regular cab truck and an $8,523 Brand FX pickup truck service box.

Funds for both purchases will be taken from the city's transportation equipment-water department account.

The council also authorized Department of Public Works Director Todd Schwarz to dispose of the Water Department’s 2001 Dodge pickup truck.

According to the City website, the Public Works Department does the "heavy lifting" for the community. From snow and ice removal during the winter time to the road and park maintenance in the summer to providing water and sewer service to the community, Public Works is involved in the everyday operation of the City.

GM unveiled the all-new 2015 Chevrolet Silverado in Texas last September.
