Altec Industries is recalling 2,514 aerial devices because potential boom instability poses a safety risk, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported.

The aerial devices at issue were manufactured from June 1, 2006, through April 1 of this year. The potential boom instability is tied to an outrigger interlock control system that may not deploy properly, NHTSA said.

Altec dealers will replace the faulty outrigger interlock modules, free of charge. The recall is due to begin Aug. 31.

Aerial device owners can reach Altec customer service at (205) 991-7733. Altec's number for this recall is CSN 625.
