Oshkosh Corp. is recalling 24 of its 2015 model-year S-Series front discharge concrete mixer glider trucks to address a transmission-related problem that might result in a sudden loss of drive power, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.

The trucks, manufactured from Feb. 10-March 20 of this year, have Allison HD4500 transmissions from Valley Truck Parts. These transmissions may be coated with a thick layer of paint on the torque converter to adaptation kit mounting surface, which can soften during vehicle operation, NHTSA said. As a result, the mounting bolts might loosen and the bolts on the torque converter bolt flange might shear.

This condition could lead to a sudden loss of drive power, NHTSA said.

To fix the problem, Valley Truck Parts will remove the paint from the mating surface of the torque converter and replace the bolts. There will be no charge for this service.

The recall is expected to begin May 8. Truck owners can reach Oshkosh customer service at (888) 686-7278.
