WASHINGTON - General Motors is recalling more than 4,600 model-year 2011 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon pickup trucks because of a potential problem with the windshield wiper, the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration reported.

In some of these vehicles, the windshield wiper motor crank arm nut may not have been tightened enough. As a result, the nut could loosen when the wipers run with a buildup of snow or ice or run on a dry windshield. This could lead to wiper failure, creating driver visibility problems.

To remedy the problem, dealers will secure the wiper motor crank arm nut free of charge.

The trucks covered by the recall were all manufactured from Sept. 22, 2010 through Nov. 5, 2010.

Truck owners can reach Chevrolet at (800) 630-2438 and GMC at (866) 996-9463.
