Westport Innovations is consolidating its production of bi-fuel and dedicated natural gas Ford vehicles at a Dallas production facility, a move not expected to cause ordering delays to fleet purchasers.

"It's going to provide us with the ability to streamline our supply chain," said Nicole Adams, a Westport spokeswoman. "We want to make our products available at the most competitive price, and this helps us do that. Otherwise its business as usual."

The consolidation will be complete at some point during the second quarter. The company is moving part of its operation from a Louisville, Ky., facility. The Louisville facility will now be dedicated primarily to installing iCE Pack LNG tank systems in heavy-duty trucks. A Plymouth, Mich., facility will remain an engineering and technical center.

In Dallas, Westport will produce bi-fuel and dedicated natural gas Ford vehicles, including the F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550, and F-650 pickup trucks; E-250 and E-350 van and wagon; E-350 and E-450 cutaway; and F-59 stripped chassis.
