Idling is one of the biggest ways fleets waste fuel. With telematics, fleets can now have near-real-time insight into whether their vehicles are idling, and notify drivers to turn off their engines.
AT&T and FleetComplete have introduced the Asset Tracker One (AT1) that allows commercial fleet managers to track a variety of assets and monitor the assets via the Fleet Complete mobile app.
When it comes to managing electronic logging devices in the back office, “Obviously, the big thing is to monitor for violations,” according to Annette Sandberg, CEO of TransSafe Consulting and a former administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
With the electronic logging device mandate top of mind this year, other potential uses of in-cab telematics may be overlooked, indicates a survey by ELD and telematics provider Teletrac Navman, even as many fleets are expanding in a booming freight environment.
