The state of West Virginia is on the verge of adopting a fee for drivers of battery-electric and plug-in vehicles that will raise road-maintenance fees for the state, reports Autoblog.

Senate Bill 1006 would implement a fee structure of $200 per year for electric vehicles and $100 per year for plug-in hybrids. Drivers of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles would pay $200 per year.

The revenue could be minimal due to the low usage of such vehicles in the state.
