Goodyear to Drop Republic Brand, Boost Kelly

AKRON, OHIO - Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. is consolidating its brand offerings by dropping its Republic associate tire brand as of Jan. 1, 2010, according to Modern Tire Dealer magazine.

Profiting from the production change will be the company's Kelly brand, which will get increased focus and updated product offerings.

The company says dropping the Republic line will reduce manufacturing complexities and improve product supply of the company's remaining brands.

Goodyear's multi-brand G3 concept will now include the Goodyear, Dunlop and Kelly offerings instead of Goodyear, Dunlop and Republic. Distribution of the Kelly brand will be expanded and Kelly will now be available to the full Goodyear dealer network.
