Prophesy Integrates With TransCore to Provide Trailer Tracking

ARTICLE TOOLS        | E-MailPrint RSS

BLOOMFIELD, CT – Prophesy Dispatch and TrackerSeries mobile communications solutions now work in tandem with the TransCore GlobalWave satellite trailer tracking device. Prophesy has teamed up with TransCore to deliver this new functionality in an ongoing effort to broaden available mobile technology options for its users.

Prophesy Dispatch automatically imports GPS data from the GlobalWave devices and updates the trailer data throughout the system. This results in greater accuracy and reliability when managing and assigning trailers on loads. In addition, users are allowed to view various data about a trailer, such as its current geographical location and length of time at that location, and several reports are available to display and print this data.

Trailer data can also be viewed at the Prophesy Tracker Web site using any PC with an Internet connection. The Prophesy Tracker Web site contains a host of reports and maps that allow you to maintain complete visibility over a trailer’s activity.

On the road, the GlobalWave hardware attaches to the surface of a trailer using an ultra-strong, self-adhesive mounting system. Once attached, the device is virtually maintenance free, with a battery life of 5-7 years and a durable design meant to handle the most rigorous conditions of the open road.

For more information on how to improve mobile asset management using TransCore’s GlobalWave trailer tracking capabilities with Prophesy software, contact Prophesy at (800) 776-6706 or e-mail moreinfo@mile.com.

Predictions for Fleet in 2009

By Mike Antich
When looking ahead to the next 12 months, I foresee reduced operating costs for fleets offset by increased depreciation expense caused by anemic resale values and decreased incentive monies. Here’s why I believe this will be the case, along with other predictions for 2009.

2008: One of the Worst Years in Fleet History

By Mike Antich
I can’t recall a year as tumultuous as 2008. The year started with the Jan. 1 termination of the $1.8 billion merger between GE and PHH and ended with the near bankruptcy of GM and Chrysler. In between, we witnessed record fuel prices, then a spectacular freefall in fuel prices, a dismal used-vehicle market, unprecedented credit gridlock, the inability of some fleets to order new-vehicles, and fleet delivery disruptions due to a UAW strike and an epic Midwest flood that submerged rail lines.
