TREVOSE, PA – The CEI Group, Inc. (CEI) has named Luann Dunkerley, a 28-year veteran of the truck services industry, Business Development Manager for the Northeast region. The company markets its truck fleet services under the TruckGuardian brand.

Prior to joining CEI, Dunkerley spent her career with Ryder System, Inc., a global provider of transportation, logistics and supply chain management solutions. She spent the last 14 years as a Market Development Manager based in Philadelphia, with responsibility for equipment leasing and financing programs for targeted accounts in the Delaware Valley region.

“Luann brings a deep knowledge of the needs of the trucking industry, particularly in our region of the country,” said Wayne Smolda, CEO and founder of CEI.  “Penetrating the trucking industry with our collision, risk and safety services is a key strategic goal for CEI, and we expect Luann to make a major contribution to our success.”

Dunkerley joined Ryder in 1980 as a dealer manager. She subsequently held positions with the company as a branch manager and then as an account executive.

At CEI, she will be based at the company’s headquarters in Trevose, PA, a suburb of Philadelphia. A resident of Newtown, PA, she attended Manchester Community College, in Manchester CT and Central Connecticut State University, in New Britain, CT.

Predictions for Fleet in 2009

By Mike Antich

2008: One of the Worst Years in Fleet History

By Mike Antich
I can’t recall a year as tumultuous as 2008. The year started with the Jan. 1 termination of the $1.8 billion merger between GE and PHH and ended with the near bankruptcy of GM and Chrysler. In between, we witnessed record fuel prices, then a spectacular freefall in fuel prices, a dismal used-vehicle market, unprecedented credit gridlock, the inability of some fleets to order new-vehicles, and fleet delivery disruptions due to a UAW strike and an epic Midwest flood that submerged rail lines.
