Fleet versus Retail

Fleet versus Retail


I’m interested in applying for a fleet account but the fleet incentives aren’t as high as retail rebates. If I apply for the fleet account, do I get to choose between the two? What are the other benefits to having that account?

Often retail rebates generally exceed fleet rebates. However, if you have a fleet account number you can select between the two. Retail rebates ebb and flow during the model year and vary by region. However, fleet incentives are set prior to the beginning of the model year and remain constant nationwide for the entire model year. You need not reapply annually for your fleet number, and you can pick and choose between fleet and retail rebates to your best financial advantage. Edmunds.com is an excellent source for retail rebates and program lengths.

I usually check to see which rebates best suit my customer's needs. I have the option of using whichever save my customer the most. We will see a trend in the industry that emulates this strategy very shortly I believe. Most dealerships are trying to capture thier share of the market as best they can. Offering thier Retail customers "Fleet Pricing" and thier Fleet customers the added benefit of the "Retail Rebates" is becomming the norm.
