LAURINBURG, N.C. – Rostra Precision Controls, Inc. has introduced a ParkPilot Ultrasonic Smart Parking System designed specifically for trucks that did not come factory equipped with obstacle sensing. The new ParkPilot Truck Kit (part number 250-1814) uses ultrasonic technology to detect moving and static objects up to six feet behind the vehicle, alerting drivers of unseen objects and facilitating ease of parking. The product’s universal design fits virtually all vehicle applications, including the Toyota Tacoma and Tundra, Chevrolet Silverado, Ford F-150, and Honda Ridgeline.
Rostra’s ParkPilot automatically engages when a vehicle is placed in reverse, sounding an internal, volume-adjustable audio alarm if an obstacle is detected. A set of two or four black, waterproof sensors (250-2992 Series, sold separately) provide a 120-degree conical area of detection from the bumper outward. An additional benefit of the ParkPilot is its Dynamic Scan Memory, a feature by which the sensors memorize the vehicles’ bumper environment on activation – meaning the system ignores items like spare tires and trailer hitches when detecting obstacles.
Rostra’s ParkPilot Truck Kit includes a 17-foot harness that has a quick disconnect function, making it easy to deactivate the sensors. Professional installation is recommended. For more information or to find a dealer near you, call (800) 782-3379 or visit www.rostra.com.
